The Victorians

Victorian School Room Pupils will be taken through a Victorian class lesson using slates and dip pens, will experience chanting of tables and spelling, reading, drill, object lessons and drawing and ironing. Following the lesson will be an evaluation of the experience. |

Life of Servant Pupils will learn from a Victorian laundry maid of the duties that she has to perform and the complexities of her job. Pupils will then have the opportunity to try out some of the tasks and analyse some mystery Victorian objects. |

Mystery Victorian Objects Using museum type objects pupils will be taken through an activity to work out what a particular object is. In groups, they will have the opportunity to question and draw the object, elicit answers, and feed back the result of their enquiries to the rest of class. |

|
Buildings and Houses Pupils will be shown examples of Victorian and pre-Victorian buildings and houses and given clues on how to recognise them. If appropriate, they can be taken out to identify local buildings and record the details and draw at least one. |
